Smoke Testing information

City staff completed smoke testing on portions of the sewer system in July.   Smoke is used to locate issues within the sewer system.  Staff found several illegal connections (storm drains connected to the sewer lines), most of the issues were broken or missing sewer cleanout caps.  Preventing storm water from getting into the sewer system will save on the cost of treatment.

Smoke testing was done to compliment a flow monitoring study that was conducted in February 2016.  Both are portions of the Wastewater Facility Plan update that will be completed by March 2017.

Residents that had issues will be contacted by the City with corrective measures.  Thank you for your participation in improving the sewer system
