How can I request a police record?
You can download a Records Request form, or stop by the office and fill one out. The charge is $30.00 for records going back three years, or $60.00 for records three years or older and photographs are $10.00. We need to receive payment prior to retrieving the records. If you download the form, please mail it to us along with your payment, or stop by and drop it off. Please note: Not all police reports are public record. Any reports involving a case that is under investigation can not be released without approval of the City Attorney or Columbia County District Attorney.

How do I reach an officer?
If it is an emergency, Dial 911. Otherwise, the best way to reach an officer, who is on duty, is by calling the non-emergency dispatch (24 hour) number: 503-397-1521. The dispatch center can reach the officer by radio and ask them to return your call. You can also call the Scappoose Police Department during business hours and ask to leave a message for the officer.

I have been involved in a traffic accident, should I call the police?
Provided that you have exchanged information with the other parties involved you do not need to notify the police. If there is an injury or the vehicle damage exceeds $2500.00 you must file an accident report with DMV. We have DMV accident forms in the office, but you would still need to drop them off at your local DMV.

What hours are officers on patrol?
The Scappoose Police Department has 24 hour police coverage, seven days a week. If you come to the police department after hours, there is a phone in front of the building that will connect you to dispatch where you can request an officer.
